The HR Council for the Voluntary and Non-Profit Sector has invited OSSTF/FEESO to participate in its national survey of private and public sector employees aged 45+ and retired persons, to assess their potential interest in transitioning to late career paid employment in the non-profit sector. The HR Council (www.hrcouncil.ca/home.cfm) works with organizations, educators, labour and government to identifY and address issues related to paid employment in the non-profit sector. The survey will aid individuals and Canada's 69,000 charitable and non-profit organizations. The survey is aimed towards individuals who may be considering a transition to the non-profit sector late in their work lives, or at the time of retirement from a current career, or following retirement. The research will assess awareness of jobs and careers in the non-profit sector and factors that influence a decision to work in the sector. OSSTF/FEESO is being asked to invite its members to participate because of the important skills its members could bring to the non-profit sector in their late careers. The survey will be of interest to individuals who are planning to retire from their current job or to make other work changes, or who are already retired. The on-line survey was posted shortly after Labour Day, is completely confidential, and is available in both English and French. Questions about the surveyor its confidentiality will be answered by calling 1-800-363-0832 during the work day.
