GSMA Gay-Straight Members' Alliance

You Are Not Alone


The Human Rights and Political Action Committees of the Distrit 16 OSSTF has initiated a Gay-Straight Members' Alliance.  The first meeting was in November of 2009.  The GSMA is currently discussing the areas of interest for the group.  Below is a draft of the items that the members are considering.

  • To provide a supportive, safe environment for District 16 OSSTF members who are gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgendered, questioning (GLBTQ) and straight to meet.
  • To provide a voice to the district regarding issues of sexual diversity.
  • To provide a vehicle of social and political action in regards to sexual diversity.
  • To act as an ally to other organizations dealing with issues pertinent to the GBLTQ community.
  • To respect the confidentiality of all members.

The term anti-gay is used throughout this document to refer to slurs that demean anyone regardless of their real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. Remember that ANYONE can be the target of these slurs at school.
