Jack Layton 1950-2011

(Toronto) – “All Canadians, regardless of their political beliefs, have lost a friend today,” said Ken Coran, president of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF/FEESO).

“Jack Layton was a champion for working and middle class Canadians. He inspired us all with a vision of a society where everyone could enjoy the benefits of living in this great country,” said Coran. 

“At a time when politics has become increasingly calculating and brutish, Jack managed to stay above it all. His iconic smile became synonymous with his positive outlook and fighting spirit,” said Coran.

“I am sure all our members join me in offering condolences to Jack Layton’s family,” said Coran. “He will surely be missed.”
