Poor No More

Want to be in a movie?

Join TV and film star Mary Walsh on Parliament Hill on Saturday, January 16.

Poor No More is a feature documentary about Canada's working poor.

The film will wrap up with a rally in front of the House of Commons

- bringing together our host Mary Walsh, the people that we've interviewed, and many of our sponsors and supporters.

Join us for lunch, then march to the Flame and the steps in front of the House of Commons.

12 noon at St. Andrew's Church, 82 Kent Street,
Ottawa, on the corner of Wellington across from the Supreme Court.
1:30 march to the Hill

Ample parking is available along Wellington and behind and to the west of the Supreme Court.

Thanks to the Canadian Union of the Public Employees, Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada, the Public Service Alliance of Canada for co-hosting the lunch.

Poor No More shows the perils and prospects of the working poor.

Mary Walsh, our host, takes Canadians to see how poverty has been reduced in Europe...and how it might be reduced in Canada.

Our characters discover that the countries with the least poverty have strong unions, affordable housing, universal childcare and post secondary education -- and enjoy successful economies.

This will be the first film to explain the roots of the current economic crisis, its impact on Canadian working people, and what can be done about it.

It has been produced by a small company of progressive film-makers, who have done a lot of work with unions and with national and international broadcasters including CBC, CTV and NBC among many others. -- http://www.deveauxbabin.com/ .
