OSSTF PA DAY 2019

This years OSSTF PA Day will be on Friday, May 3, 2019.  The OSSTF DISTRICT 16 PA Day is about the professional growth and continued professional development as an educator. Every year the day has been an incredible success every year and we would like to thank all members who have assisted in making this happen. This year, we have chosen to stay with a site-based model to provide members with an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues at their home schools.

Structure of the day

Morning

  • Annual Learning Plan - working on your ALP in the morning.
  • Choosing to work actively on understanding and development of an item or two items on your ALP. You may choose to do this independently or with others.
  • Examples of how you may use the time is by finding resources, viewing webinars, collaborating with others who have knowledge/skills to aid in your learning (at your site), inviting an expert in to collaborate with.
  • Reminder that this time is not to be used as individual planning or marking time and but to be used for collaboratively working within a department or with department groupings.

Afternoon

  • Department/Subject are Focused Professional Development - working with your department/subject area on your area of development/growth
  • Departments that are smaller or have one person in it may choose to collaborate with other department/subject areas during this portion of the PA DAY
  • Examples of what you might want to work on: curriculum (embedding equity), pedagogy, digital/technology, collaborative inquiry, eco-schools/healthy schools, assessment and evaluation, new teacher mentorship, bring in an expert, bring in a community agency/leader
